Obedience to our Lord and our Parents
Written by Sarah Ann E.

Obedience...Ouch, that is a subject that all of us could improve on a whole lot. It is not a subject that we like to talk about, especially if we have a rebellious streak in us at the moment. I know. I have been there. In fact, I was there just a little bit ago. I really didn't want to have obedience as the topic for this issue. I didn't know what the topic would be right before I sent it out and my mother told me that I needed to do it on obedience. By the way, at the time, she didn't know that I really needed this topic. Not knowing what other topic to have, I went ahead and made that this issues topic. The Lord has done a great work in my heart since then, and now I can say that I am glad that this was this months topic. The Lord knew what was best.

Obey our God. He has many commands in His Word for us to obey. We can get very overwhelmed with all of them. Now, if we know that we are flat out disobeying a command, we need to do something about it. We all need to improve in our obedience to our loving Lord. We probably each have a different area that we really need to improve in. You know when you are disobeying the Lord. He will clearly tell you. You need to be open to hear what He has to say to you, and be willing to OBEY.

Obey our Parents. You know, if we are truly obeying God, we will be obeying our parents. Now, I cannot say that when we are obeying just what our parents say, we are obeying God. Yes, we are obeying God when we obey our parents, but we cannot just obey our parents. The Lord knows all about us. He knows of ways that we need to obey in that we may not even know about, nor our parents. We are to be primarily obedient to the Lord, then being obedient to our parents will be easier because we want to please our Lord. Remember Ephesians 6:1? I am sure that all of you know it. "Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right." We probably have known this from a little squirt. We are obeying God when we obey our parents, unless what our parents are telling us to do is contrary to what the Bible says.
