Trusting Means Honoring
By Mrs. Rebekah E.
Mary Winslow once wrote: “In trusting the Lord, putting implicit confidence in Him, we honor Him, and He will honor us” (taken from Heaven Opened, p. 215). How fitting it is to compare our trustworthiness with that of how we trust the Lord. In trusting Him, we honor Him and put our implicit confidence in Him. How can we as ladies develop more trustworthiness in our lives? Well, how do we honor the Lord and gain that implicit confidence in Him? Is it not by saturating ourselves with His Word and learning all we can about Him and let Him transform us into His image and be sweetly submissive to Him?
Let me challenge you as I have my girls to pray back Scriptures to the Lord that reflect what God wants us to be like. Ask the Lord to help you reflect His holiness and your trust in Him by being the godly woman that He talks about in I Timothy 2 & 3 "...adorned with proper clothing, modest, discreet, do good works as proper for women making a claim to godliness, quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness, not to teach or exercise authority over a man but to remain quiet, continue in faith and love and sanctity with self restraint, dignified, not malicious gossips, temperate, faithful in all things, as well as assist her husband in managing their children and household well." Titus 2 also has some characteristics that we need to pray for"...to love her husband and children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, subject to her own husband so that the word of God will not be dishonored."
Another passage that is good for us ladies to pray over is in Romans 12 ..”Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord. ‘But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.’ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
If these qualities and others that we find in Scripture characterize our lives, then our lives will be trustworthy by God’s grace and for His glory. Our husband’s hearts will be able to safely trust in us as we do him good and not evil all the days of our lives.
