Jehovah Shalom is the name I want to look at today. It means “The Lord is peace” or “Jehovah send peace” and is the name Gideon gave to an altar he erected in Judges 6:24.
In the world we live in today we are often presented with situations that try to steal our peace but if we put our trust in God and know that no matter what we face, He has not relinquished His control then we can know His peace in our lives.
This year has been a particularly bad year for me, I honestly never knew so much could go wrong in one year as it has this year but at the same time God has drawn me so much closer to Himself and has given me such a revelation of this peace. That no matter what I am going through I can come to Him and He will surround me with His peace.
The other day I shared Bethel Music’s “It is Well” and the part I love about that song is where it says “So let go my soul and trust in Him The waves and wind still know His name” The same Jesus who calmed the storms in the New Testament can calm the storms in my life if I will let go and trust Him.
No matter what you are going through today I encourage you to let go and trust God and let Him calm the storms in your life. Let Him be your Jehovah Shalom, the Lord, your peace. Experience His peace which goes beyond human understanding in all the situations you face in this life.
